Peter came over for his cappuccino at 8:30. Our plan was to leave at 9:00 He only had one cappuccino this morning as he was anxious to get underway. I got Kerry up and going when he went back to his boat. We left the dock at 9:00 and stopped at the fuel dock for a diesel fill-up and a pumpout. I sent a picture of the pumpout nozzle to Gary at VYC. It has a fresh water rinse hose built in, much more convenient and faster than our arrangement at VYC. It's perfect when Annie has a full fuel tank and an empty holding tank. Later I filled the water tanks so all is really good.
We used 39 gallons of fuel since we left home a week ago. It cost $133 for the fill up and $20 (wow) for the pumpout. We used only 2.8 gallons of diesel per hour on this trip so far. We have been going relatively slow. The trip today was 19.6 miles at 6.9 knots and took just less than 3 hours. It took 1 1/2 hours to cross the lake which was 11 miles wide where we crossed. We had 10-15 miles winds and 1 1/2' waves on the quarter which gave Annie a gentle (most of the time) rocking motion. The pink line shows our route to Algonac. Brillig arrived about an hour after us.
We are docked in a different area today than before, where permanent dockers are docked. It's a 45' dock so we have plenty of room. I wonder if I can rent out what we are not using?
I received a text from Big Jim who finally cashed the "cigar" check I sent him for first class, regular priced oysters. I assured him it was a one time occasion so I hope he enjoyed them! He said he did and even had money left over for dessert. Did he take advantage of me?
We ended up sitting on top of Annie with the captains smoking their second cigar of the cruise. It was a nice evening with a big red setting sun. We finished just in time as the mosquitos really showed up at dusk when I was taking a picture of our lights. It is really the first time this summer that I recall being chased inside by the little pests.
Great pic of Kerry! Lasagna looks delicious! Safe boating!
