We had a nice night last night. There was a cool breeze blowing through the cabin. Kerry even got a blanket out in the early morning hours. I forgot to put my Fitbit on after my shower last night so I don't have a sleep score, but I think it would be good.
I made my coffee as usual, but sat on the front of the boat in the shade in a nice breeze and read all the newspapers I brought from home. It was very pleasant.
Kerry got up about 10:30. I made her tea and blueberry pancakes for breakfast. She cleaned up while I emailed an invitation for our Fifty + One Anniversary Celebration to each of the invitees. We sent everyone a separate invitation to make it feel more personal.
It was really hot in the anchorage. The water was still and cool. The waterline had scum and seaweed growing all over it, especially the side away from the dock in Vermilion that gets the sun all day. So, what was a captain to do? Since I have never had crew that would wash the waterline, I put on a lifejacket, climbed down the swim ladder and scrubbed away. I was pleased with the results. Kerry then required that I do a fresh water shower, which actually felt very good.
I wanted to be back by 6:00 PM, so figured we needed to leave by 3:00. At 2:40 we started the process of pulling the anchor. We expected the big clump of mud and seaweed that covered most of the anchor chain and anchor. It took quite awhile to get the anchor clean and on board, but we were off shortly before 3:00.
The trip back was pleasant and uneventful. I made a martini at 4:00 . Kerry fixed us a nice sandwich dinner at 5:00. It was so hot when we arrived that once Annie was secured we dove inside and turned the air conditioners on. It was 91 degrees in the main cabin. Hot! We'll sleep with the air conditioner on tonight and head home in the morning.
Beautiful invitation! Love the blog!
