It was nice and cool last night. We slept with all the hatches and windows open, under two blankets - just what we like to do. Someone on shore started playing music a little loud about 2:30 so I got up and turned on the air conditioner fan and the white noise from it solved the problem.
I was up and done with the blog posting and coffee by 8:00. I took a nice warm shower in the marina. It was so nice out that I decided to polish the burgundy stripe on the starboard side of Annie. It needs a mid-summer booster or it fades terribly. I had great dock access to the stripe. I have a new (expensive) product recommended to me by my boat waxer. It worked really well and was easy to use. Wipe on and then off. Much easier than the paste wax I have used in the past. Kerry noticed the increased shine right away (what a great wife!)
We took our tea over to Brillig to plan our day about 9:30. Marianna had already scouted out activities to choose from. We decided to Uber to Eastern Market, a 4 acre square of shopping about 2 1/2 miles from here. We spent several hours there shopping, browsing and having a nice lunch at Farmer Frank's. Mostly we bought nice fresh produce. It was a fun experience. On our return trip here we plan to go downtown and walk the Boardwalk which goes on a long way and is highly recommended.
It was warm when we retuned via Uber. We decided to wait until later to take a walk to the lighthouse at the marina entrance. Later came at 4:00 PM. We had several delightful conversations with black Americans while walking. We chatted about fishing, fish cleaning, dogs, etc. Everyone was so pleasant. Too bad it can't always be this way. We are all the same in reality. We did some picture taking too.
Peter and Marianna came to Annie for dinner. It was warm outside so we sat in the air conditioning for cocktails and a nice dinner. Kerry had a Thai complete dinner from Costco that we served, eating with chop sticks. We finished the dinner with cookies, mints and cappuccinos for the captains. We had a really good time. We are enjoying each other's company after a hiatus of two years. I was sitting in one of our plastic chairs when the back split in half. So now we have a shopping mission. I can fix this one temporarily with wire ties if need be.
I saw a Cutwater (made by Ranger tug) boat pull into the marina around 4:30. Jimbo had mentioned to me earlier in the day that a Cutwater was in my dock at VYC. His arrival time would be about right if he sailed all the way from VYC. When questioned he said he had been in our dock! Small world. They are a very nice cruising couple with a cute dog and are from Ashtabula YC.
Tomorrow we set sail for St. Clair Shores, Jefferson Beach Marina. It appears to be about 13 miles from here. I probably will not run with Peter as Brillig just goes too slow up current. On the way home we should be able to cruise together.
The weather continues to be beautiful here. No rain since we have had our hatch repaired. So, we still don't know if our pillows will get wet at midnight. We will see soon I am sure.
Great pics! Safe boating!
