June 5, 2021, Saturday, Miller's Marina, PIB

It was a beautiful morning in PIB. We had a great night's sleep too. My Fitbit gave me an 80 rating for sleep last night. I rarely get into the 80's. Patty was by herself in the Pavilion, so after I updated the blog I went over to drink coffee and visit with her. She had set up coffee and donuts, but no one had shown up to partake.

I got a bike out and took a nice ride around downtown. Host Patty was still by herself when I returned so we visited some more. Enzo and Louie were two of the visiting dogs that have enjoyed my dog bones and they were eager to see me this morning. They are on a boat belonging to a new member of the VYC who I just met on Thursday.

Patty Ball toured Annie and just loved her. It's fun to show Annie to people who really enjoy boats and boating. She would love to have a boat bigger than their 26' one, but that is what her captain wants. We shared a couple of pots of tea with her throughout the morning and also with other members of ASPS who wandered in and out.

Kerry made BLT's for lunch as the planned food activities were thrown off because of the trailer breakdown. We took off on a bike ride after lunch. We had a nice ride until Kerry's front tire blew out about 3'4 of a mile from the boat. Then we had a nice walk back. We are lucky it blew when it did as in some parts of the ride we were going fast downhill. As it was, it blew just as we had started up from a stop. We just bought her bike from her brother Jack. I will have the rear tire changed too, in case it was a case of dry rot.

When we got back Bob had the pulled pork on the grill. We had to have a sandwich of course. It was so good. He sweetens it with pineapple. Cocktails went off as planned. We had a nice crowd in attendance. Dinner consisted of grilled steaks, very nice ones, strawberry salad, baked potatoes, rolls and cake. Very delicious. We ate with Kevin and Alice Miller, pictured below. They have a Tartan 37 sailboat. He has read all of our North Channel blogs and charted waypoints for every place we have visited. It's possible we could cruise with them this summer. We left with a uncooked steak to freeze for a later time, two cooked steaks and rolls. Bob has taken multiple courses in grilling so he is really good at it.

Bob and Patty Ball came over after cleanup for fireball and Rum Chata. She and Bob have worked so hard to make this weekend the success it was. We sat on a picnic table right beside Annie. It was a perfect night weather wise. Bob was a little bummed that attendance was low this year, and that so many people canceled at the last minute leaving the Squadron on the hook for the food cost. He has done this rendezvous for years, but is now questioning if he will do it next year. Here are pictures of them at work.

Sometime during the day I spent some time trying to shine up the burgundy bumpers we carry on the bow. They are pretty sun damaged so I only was able to make a small improvement. I am told I may have to replace them if I cannot get them shinier.
