August 21, 2021, Saturday, East Harbor

With the prospect of a beautiful warm weekend ahead of us we decided to spend two days at anchor in East Harbor. Our plans changed when Anne invited us to join her family in attending the Asian Light Festival at the Cleveland Zoo on Friday night. We met at their house for dinner and got to the zoo about 7:30. We both drove so we could go to VYC after the show, and on to East Harbor on Saturday.

The Light Festival was very enjoyable. We did not know what to expect, but it was impressive. The displays were first class, numerous, and it seems like they had a display for each animal group, and other displays that were just pretty. Many but not all of the live zoo animals were still "up" to be viewed. We all had a great time.

We had coffee, donuts and tea with our friends at the club before we left Saturday morning. Kerry was even up at 8:30 and went grocery shopping. I want to cook her a blueberry pancake breakfast tomorrow and we needed the fixings for that.

The familiar trip to East Harbor was 22 miles as usual. It took us just a little less than 3 hours. We got securely anchored on our first try which is unusual because of the tremendous amount of seaweed in here. No storms or winds are forecast this weekend which is nice. Once we were anchored, Marty called and said my nephew and his wife, Charlie and Jen, have Covid. They are non-vaxers and don't give any immunizations to their two kids either. I have always wondered how long they could get away with that. We wish them well.

I spent the afternoon sitting in the sun and reading my Grisham novel. Kerry worked on the computer, read and napped. We grilled a delicious steak for dinner, and had a sweet potato and salad to accompany it. Very nice. We both took showers off the back of Annie before bed time which were so refreshing. It was really hot today, just the way I like it. For Kerry, not so much. I am really fortunate that the loves boating and anchoring, because she does not like sun or heat.

Trump was having a rally in Alabama so we tuned in. It started with the beginning of the Patton movie with George C Scott's opening speech. Patton is my favorite movie. Things would be so different (much better) if he was president instead of Biden.
