We got the predicted rain about 5:00 AM this morning. We were all ready for it this time so no fire drills were necessary. It rained hard and we had boomers for about 1/2 hour. No hatch leaks!
I posted the blog, took a shower and then walked over to Brillig to see how Captain Peter was doing. He felt much better, fortunately. We agreed we would make the 10:30 bridge. I called Kerry to let her know she had one hour to take her shower and get ready to depart. She was up to the challenge!
I told Peter I would just ride along side Brillig today so we could arrive at the same time and do the two bridges together. That made for a very slow trip for Annie. It took us 2 1/2 hours at 4.3 knots to cover the 11.0 miles. We've gone 136.2 miles so far. From now on we will be traveling toward home.
Two dock hands assisted us when we arrived. Most places we have been had no help docking, but we have not needed any either. One of the dock posts was full of nails sticking out that I did not see when we arrived. I don't think any hit Annie. A rub rail strip had pulled off leaving the boat scratching nails exposed. I got out my hammer and pulled out what I could and pounded in the ones I could not remove. We will have a much safer exit that way.
Kerry decided to do laundry once we arrived. We had our lunch earlier, while underway. We finished up the eggplant from the other day and it was just as good this time as last. The sauce with cheese and heavy cream was really delicious. The laundry is free, but there is only 1 washer and 1 dryer and they are in a garage type structure with crap everywhere and water over most of the floor. I don't imagine she will be very impressed when she returns. This is the first and only time for her doing laundry on this trip.
I called this marina before we left our last port and was told I could send an Amazon package here for delivery. Peter will not run out of Sweet and Salty Caramel Cappuccinos - 42 arriving tomorrow! Our neighbor, Pat, is on the job at home and often sends us pictures of Kerry's landscaping..
Kerry was near her crashing point and decided she did not want to go out to dinner. Perhaps we could order pizza in? I made martinis at 4:00 so we could discuss this. Then Peter popped over to see what dinner plans were. No one wanted to cook or go out. We decided just to have each couple eat on their own boat. Then Marianna popped over and accepted the offer of a martini. Then we broke out crackers, cheese, sourdough pretzels, pistachios, chips, cookies, etc., and dinner was on. We all needed a down night and loved this low stress dinner. By 5:45 we were done and had the whole remaining evening to chill. We made plans to meet at 10:00 tomorrow to go to the Raven, a really unique restaurant, one we visited about 7 years ago and have not forgotten
Great pics! Had big rain storm and wind. Lots of branches down. Spent a few hours in
