The thunderstorms finally did arrive last night. We heard distant boomers about 2:30. I looked at the radar and saw they were way out in the lake and no danger to us, so back to bed. At 4:30 we again heard distant boomers, but they got no closer so I stayed in bed. It was totally quiet with no wind or waves. Then about 5:00 we heard the wind pick up and felt the boat swing. We saw lightening too, so we knew it was our turn.

Normally I just stay in bed for storms. However since we were not sure how well our anchor was dug in, I got up to watch and make sure we did not drag when the wind blew hard. We didn't. As far as thunderstorms go, I would rate it as a C- (no complaints here, though). It just had medium winds and rain and almost no thunder. i did use two tools to help assure me that Annie was not moving. First, I had our searchlight ready to go. I could shine it on the shore and visually determine that we were getting no closer.

The second was a GPS tracking device in my phone navigation app. It shows where Annie is and where she has been. The yellow areas under the red arrow show the different positions she has occupied. In this case, you can see where she has swung around on her anchor. What I did not want to see was a long straight line indicating we were moving down wind. I did not see that. After about 1/2 hour of storm watching, I opened the V-Berth hatches and went back to bed.

By 7:30 I was rested and ready to start the day. Coffee and the blog update started the day as it most often does when we are cruising. Finishing those tasks, I scrubbed our white ball fenders and pumped up the kayak to see if my repair held. It appeared to hold.

I made tea for Kerry about 11:30. About 1:00 our friends from ASAP arrived. in their sailboats - Brian and Coralee Logan and Kevin and Alice Miller. Brian had been here before, but Kevin had not. He was worried about the water depth, but made it to the anchorage without incident. After their anchor beers they launched their dingys and came to Annie for a visit and cocktail.

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of leaving a line from the stern of our kayak in the water. It caught Brian's propeller when he was leaving. What a mess!. The line tied so tightly around the propeller that it took us at least 15 minutes to untie. Our kayak got stretched into a shape we would not have imagined, but all was well in the end, and Brian and Coralee were able to motor to their boat. I was impressed that the strap on the kayak that had the line tied to it did not rip off.

We enjoyed a cocktail on the upper deck after everyone left. Dinner was the ribs left over from last night, simple and delicious. I am going fishing with Kevin tomorrow morning and he and Alice are coming over for a hamburger lunch later in the day. Brian and Coralee are sailing back early tomorrow as their dog has a grooming appointment.

I decided to take a kayak ride over to say goodbye to the Logans. Much to my surprise, Kerry decided to go with me. We had a pleasant ride and a nice visit with the crews of both boats. One tube of the kayak seems to have a slow leak so we took the air pump with us and actually used it during our trip.
