May 20, 2021, Thursday, Vermilion Yacht Club

It was another wonderful day that had Kerry and I scratching our heads wondering how the weather can be so nice this early in the year. We have never before been able to use our boat like this before Memorial Day.

Last night was another nice evening for sleeping. Although it was a little warmer than it has been so we were tossing our blankets off, then putting them back on for much of the night. I was up at 7:30 drinking coffee, updating the blog and listening to Fox News. I finally caught up on all the old newspapers on board and then moved outside to successfully attack some minor rust stains on Annie's upper rails.

Kerry got up about 9:30. She made her Roiboss tea in the Keurig. I used the K-cup a second time for another cup of tea and it was fine. Nancy Simson tipped us off that you could use them twice. It worked for my coffee too.

We had pancakes, bacon and fruit for breakfast/lunch about 11:30. It was great with a beer served up on Annie's upper deck.

We read and relaxed until about 12:45 when we pulled anchor to head back to Vermilion. Before we left I tried to touch the bottom where we were anchored with a 7' dock pole, and was unable to do so. I think there would be enough water for Brillig to join us someday. Kerry did her usual fine job of washing the mud off the anchor and Annie. Notice that we are wearing our "marriage savers", our head sets that allow us to communicate with each other in a normal, non-shouting voice. The trip back was uneventful. I always enjoy looking at the Marblehead Lighthouse as we pass. It is really a beautiful scene.

We invited Jimbo and Jola over for a spaghetti dinner. Before they arrived Dick Andrews stopped over to visit and drink a glass of rum. We all visited for awhile. Dick told us of someone who may be able to wax Annie soon. The person we have lined up to do it just moved us back from late June to mid July.

Later Kerry and Jola made a wonderful dinner for us. In addition to spaghetti, we had salad, beet soup, garlic bread and meat balls. It was really good and Jimbo and I were very appreciative of their efforts.

We feel really fortunate to have had this mini cruise so early in the season. We are keeping our fingers crossed that our good luck continues.
